Things to Do in Hurghada, Hurghada is the beating heart of Egypt’s Red Sea coast, and if you’re staying anywhere between El Gouna and Soma Bay, an enormous range of days out sits right on your doorstep. This guide covers the excursions British guests ask us about most, with honest advice on what suits families, couples and first-timers.

A quick word on who we are: we don’t sell hotels or flights. We plan your days. Tell us where you’re staying, who’s travelling, the ages in your group and your budget, and we’ll build an itinerary around you — booked ahead of your trip or arranged after you arrive. Trusted since 1998. Our word is our bond.

Boat Trips: Giftun Island and Orange Bay

The classic Hurghada day out, and for good reason. Boats leave the marina each morning for Giftun Island and Orange Bay — white sand, shallow turquoise water and two or three snorkelling stops over the reef on the way. Lunch is served on board and most trips return mid-afternoon, so you’re back at the pool before dinner.

Who it suits: everyone. The water at Orange Bay is calm and shallow, which makes it one of the best choices for families with young children and for anyone trying snorkelling for the first time.

Plan it with us:  Tell us your resort and we’ll match you to the right boat — shared, family-friendly or fully private. Message us on WhatsApp +20 110 016 3333 — no deposit, pay on arrival.

Dolphin House Trips

Several reefs near Hurghada are known for resident dolphin pods. Sightings are never guaranteed — these are wild animals, and any operator promising otherwise should be treated with caution — but on a good day, snorkelling near dolphins in open water is a memory that outlasts the whole holiday. We only run trips that keep a respectful distance and follow reserve rules.

Desert Safari and Bedouin Evenings

Head inland and the scenery flips completely: mountains, open desert and Bedouin villages. Afternoon safaris typically combine a jeep or quad-bike run with a Bedouin dinner, traditional tea and stargazing — the desert sky here is something British light pollution simply never allows. Sunset departures are cooler and prettier than midday ones; ask us which suits the season you’re travelling in.

Family Days Out

Beyond the sea and the desert, Hurghada has grown a solid set of family attractions: the Grand Aquarium, water parks, submarine and glass-bottom-boat trips for children too young to snorkel, and Mini Egypt Park for a fun hour among miniature landmarks. If you tell us the ages in your group, we’ll tell you honestly which of these are worth your time and which to skip.

Day Trips to Luxor and Cairo

This is the question we hear most: can you see ancient Egypt from a Hurghada beach holiday? Yes. Luxor is around four hours away by road — the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple and the Colossi of Memnon in a single, long, unforgettable day. Cairo and the Pyramids are reachable either by road or by a short internal flight. We’ve written a full honest guide to each; the short version is that both are absolutely doable and both are worth doing properly, with an early start and a good guide.

Plan it with us:  Ask us for the Luxor and Cairo day-trip plans that match your dates. Message us on WhatsApp +20 110 016 3333 — no deposit, pay on arrival.

When to Visit Hurghada

The Red Sea is a genuine year-round destination. October to April brings warm days around 22 to 28 degrees and cooler evenings — perfect escape-the-UK-winter weather. May to September is hot, but the sea breeze keeps the coast far more comfortable than Cairo or Luxor, and the water is at its warmest. Sea temperatures rarely drop below 21 degrees even in January.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book excursions before I travel?

No — that’s the point of how we work. Some guests like everything planned before they fly; others prefer to settle in first and decide by the pool. Both are fine. Message us before your trip or once you’ve arrived, and we’ll build your days either way. No deposit, pay on arrival.

Are boat trips suitable for non-swimmers?

Yes. Life jackets are provided, the snorkelling stops are optional, and Orange Bay itself has shallow, standing-depth water. Glass-bottom boats and the submarine are good alternatives if you’d rather stay dry.

Is Hurghada safe for British tourists?

The Red Sea resorts are long-established holiday destinations with a strong tourism infrastructure. As with any trip, check the current FCDO travel advice before you fly — we’d rather you read the official source than take our word alone.

How far is Hurghada airport from the resorts?

Very close by Egyptian standards: Sahl Hasheesh is about 18 km away, Makadi Bay 35 km, El Gouna 30 km north and Soma Bay around 48 km south. Most transfers are under an hour.
